Mockups are really fun, you just need a few tricks up your sleeve and there's not much to it.

It's in the repositories (synaptic, not sure whether it's in the instant add/remove programs list), so if you're running ubuntu, I recommend checking it out.
then hit Alt-F2 and type:
cairo-dock
to start the dock.
